ORDINANCE 2024-10-1 : SETTING NEW Waterworks and Sanitary Sewer System Rates effective January 15, 2025
At a special city council meeting held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, the Jefferson City Council approved the following rates to be effective beginning January 15, 2025:
CITY OF JEFFERSON ORDINANCE NO. 2024-10-1
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, TEXAS PRESCRIBING THE RATES FOR SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE WATERWORKS AND SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM OWNED AND OPERATED BY THE CITY OF JEFFERSON AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Texas:
- Unless otherwise provided by contract, the following monthly rates shall apply for treated water service to customers;
a. RESIDENTIAL:

- First 1,000 gallons – $ 34.25 minimum
- Each additional 1,000 gallons – $ 6.75
b. COMMERICAL:
-
- First 1,000 gallons – $ 34.75 minimum
- Each additional 1,000 gallons – $ 7.25
c. Industrial – Tier 1 and Tier 2

- First 1,000 gallons – $ 35.25 minimum
- Each additional 1,000 gallons – $ 7.50
2. Unless otherwise provided by contract, the following monthly rates shall apply for wastewater service to customers;
a. RESIDENTIAL:

- First 2,000 gallons – $ 25.00 minimum
- Each additional 1,000 gallons – $ 5.50
- Maximum wastewater charge of $ 51.50
b. COMMERICAL & INDUSTRIAL:

- First 2,000 gallons – $ 25.00 minimum
- Each additional 1,000 gallons – $ 6.00
3. WATER TAP FEES:
a. 3/4 Inch – $ 650.00
b. 1 Inch – $ 750.00
c. 2 Inch – $ 1450.00
4. BULK WATER:
a. First 1,000 gallons – $ 34.75 minimum
b. Each additional 1,000 gallons – $ 7.25
5. SEWER TAP FEES:
a. Any size – $ 650.00
6. The Deposit for Residential and Commercial Rental units water service will be $ 125.00
7. The Deposit for Residential and Commercial Owned units water service will be $ 125.00
8. The charge to reconnect service will be $ 40.00
9. The late fee for accounts will be 25%
10. Returned check fee is $ 40.00
11. This Ordinance shall become effective January 15, 2025, (which will show up on the March 1st billing, as it encompasses usage from January 15 to February 15) from and after its passage and publication as required by law.
12. This Ordinance shall take precedence and thereby repeal any ordinances, orders, or resolutions in conflict.
