SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING/PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Jefferson City Council will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 6:30 PM at the Transportation Center at 305 E. Austin Street, Jefferson, Texas, at which time the subjects to be considered or upon which any formal action may be taken are as listed below.  Items do not have to be taken in the order shown on the meeting notice.  Unless removed from the consent agenda, items identified with the consent agenda will be acted on at one time.

  1. Discussion/Public Input on the Proposed Tax Rate of 0.4186110  $0.4087406 Per $100 of Taxable Value for 2024 Tax Year. 

The no-new-revenue tax rate is the tax rate for the 2024 tax year that will raise the same amount of property tax revenue for CITY OF JEFFERSON from the same properties in both the 2023 tax year and the 2024 tax year. 

The proposed tax rate is not greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. This means that CITY OF JEFFERSON is not proposing to increase property taxes for the 2024 tax year.

  1. Consider and/or approve Levying and Adopting through Ordinance # 2024-09-2 Levying A Tax Rate per $100 valuation for the use and support of the general government for October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2025 for The City of Jefferson.
  2. Consider and/or approve ratifying through Ordinance # 2024-09-3 to ratify the property tax revenue increase reflected in the tax rate and city’s operating budget for October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2025.
